Seeds to Succeed

Making A Difference Consulting offers an intensive summer program for youth that focuses on health and wellness, college and career development, goal setting, improving self-esteem, equipping youth with leadership tools, and building confidence to deal with peer pressure and risky behaviors. Seeds to Succeed is gender specific and is built around weekly themes. Youth engage in kinesthetic activities, focus groups, field trips, seminars, and small group activities throughout the week(s).

Making A Difference Consulting offers individual counseling services for children, adolescents, and families who may be experiencing difficulties coping with stressors such as mental health diagnoses, self-esteem, trauma, divorce/separation and loss of a loved one due to various circumstances. In order to provide data-driven services to address the needs of the client, a psycho-social assessment is conducted and an individual plan is developed to help clients develop the skills and tools needed to cope with life stressors.

Making A Difference Consulting offers customized psycho-educational, therapeutic, and support groups for children, adolescents, and families. Screenings and interviews of clients are conducted prior to starting a group to gather information and to customize groups based on the needs of the group members. Groups last on average, 1 1/2 hours for 6-12 weeks. Sample groups include: grief/bereavement, anger management, gender specific groups focusing on self-esteem, academic achievement, and goal setting. Making A Difference Consulting provides consulting services to schools, families, agencies, and other organizations to address the needs of children and adolescents. Consulting services are based on the needs of the client and are tailored made to address specific concerns. A component of the consulting services is to provide program management to local agencies and school districts to oversee programming. These services include but are not limited to case management, assessment of programming, and grant writing.

Children Having Incarcerated Parents Succeeding (C.H.I.P.S.)

Children of incarcerated parents have been a relatively invisible population and statistics show that there are over 2 million children living with a parent who is incarcerated.  Children having incarcerated parents succeeding (C.H.I.P.S.) is an eight week psycho-educational group created to provide a safe and educational environment for children who have parents who are incarcerated. C.H.I.P.S. focuses on teaching children ways to manage stressors related to parental incarceration by developing effective coping skills and identifying ways to succeed.

Boys II Men

Boys II Men is a program that serves boys ages 9-18 years old. The program focuses on helping boys make the critical transition of moving from boys to young men by focusing on life skills, social skills, identifying risky behavior and coping skills, career exploration, financial literacy, health and wellness, entrepreneurship and team-building activities, and hands-on projects. Guest speakers are invited to attend the program such as karate/fitness instructors, technical and trade professionals, professional athletes, and more!

D.I.V.A.S. is a support group designed to increase girls’ self-esteem, peer connections, and overall self-esteem. This program will allow re-teens to explore their talents, strengths, and weaknesses and to build up confidence in setting goals, developing leadership skills, and making good decisions that will ultimately affect their future. bullying, self-image, body image, style of dress, conflict resolution, decision making, and healthy choices will be explored. The young ladies will discuss the importance of voicing their opinions by being assertive and maintaining self-respect.

Boundless Beauty

Half day (1-3 hours):

This new cutting edge hands on interactive workshop is designed to equip and inspire young girls to develop healthy self-esteem that encourages acceptance of oneself and others.  This unique workshop will challenge the mind and body by infusing yoga, dance, and strength based guided group discussions that will empower girls to recognize positive attributes about themselves while supporting and embracing other girls.

Workshop includes:

· 60-90-minute strength-based guided group discussion and artistic expression activity facilitated by A licensed clinical social worker or counselor.

 · 30-45-minute choreographed dance lesson taught by professional choreographer/dancer.

· 30-40-minute beginners gentle Goddess Yoga class with guided meditation taught by certified Goddess Yoga instructor.

· Healthy light snack.

· Program Completion Certificate.
